Co-products

Collaborate, cooperate, build:

The production of ornamental stone blocks and their splitting into plates in the processing industries generates tons of waste. There are several steps in the process: extraction of rock material from benches of ornamental rocks, transformation of blocks into plates and, later, transformation into the final product.

Since the product needs to meet quality and aesthetic requirements, the losses generated in these processes are used in various applications of industrial engineering and agriculture – in the latter, considered a source of potassium.

One of the priorities of the Guidoni Group is to invest in research to make it possible to reuse the waste generated, making it possible to provide alternative raw materials for other industrial processes and avoiding the extraction of natural resources.

Internal reuse and applications:

Desde 2018, o Grupo Guidoni vem investindo na prática de reutilização de seus coprodutos nos processos internos, além de desenvolver alternativas junto a clientes, de novas aplicações desses materiais, contribuição assim com a economia circular.

In addition to being widely used in agriculture, being transformed into fertilizers, dimension stone co-products have a wide presence in civil construction.

How we operate:

Each customer has a culture and an engineering structure. We take this into account to adapt our way of working. Therefore, we work with shared engineering, being an extension of the engineering team, complementing its structure. We work with a dedicated engineering and management team, from the feasibility study (or preparation of the technical and commercial proposal) to the delivery of the work.

Hydraulic Barriers

The objective of the project is to use blocks whose aesthetic appearance does not meet the standard required in the coating market, in the construction of retaining walls for hydraulic fluids. For this application, the blocks are superimposed in order to build a large gravity wall, capable of holding or slowing down movements of moving masses.

The benefit of this project is the possibility of de-characterizing the wall after the emergency situation has been resolved. The speed of deconstruction and the possibility of reusing this material for other applications are the great differentials.

Bases and foundations

There are situations in which the speed required for the construction of foundations and equipment bases, whose traditional engineering application would use cement as a raw material, becomes unfeasible. In this sense, the application of granite blocks, with similar mechanical characteristics, can be interesting alternatives, both from an economic point of view and in terms of execution speed.

It also presents the possibility of mischaracterizing the site after use as a benefit.

Paving streets and sidewalks

Already present in our daily lives, the paving of streets and sidewalks using stones in the form of parallelepipeds or with no defined pattern, arranged side by side, in order to allow the movement of people, vehicles or equipment, is also an application of co-products generated in the process of mining dimension stones.

This co-product, however, undergoes a processing process for squaring in order to enable its application.

Rockfill, Breakwater and reconstruction of river channels

The waste generated can be widely used in areas degraded by the erosion process, as well as in the protection of sandy dams, in this case avoiding erosion caused by the waves formed in the reservoir and by the movement of rising and falling water levels.

The application is characterized by the use of rock with a high degree of hardness and the quality of the rockfill depends on this factor. The client's needs are previously analyzed and the ideal rock is defined for each application.

Application of feldspar

The high volume of feldspar present in our deposits are important inputs for other productive sectors, which are widely used in the manufacture of ceramics, glass, paints, among others. Our raw feldspar is supplied to companies at a competitive cost and time frame.

Feldspars have numerous applications in industry due to their alkali and alumina content.

Among these applications are:

— Manufacture of glass and ceramics

— Embedding material in paints, plastics and rubbers

— Glazed products, such as: Sanitary and kitchenware, porcelain for electrical applications.

— They are also used in welding electrodes, light abrasives and in the production of urethane, latex foam, construction aggregates, among other applications.

Micronized Silica/Impalpable Quartz

Our manufacture of our quartz sheets consumes a considerable volume of micronized silica. This element is produced in our milling and in its production process, a content of material outside the specification is generated that make its application in the production of plates unfeasible, however, it meets the specifications of other products, such as, for example, paints, ceramics, porcelain, mortar, among others.

Our company is concerned with the satisfaction of its customers, applying all the knowledge, technology and experience of its professionals to provide efficient services. The quality control laboratory is equipped with a state-of-the-art particle analyzer, used in the analyzes as well as in the validation of equipment cleaning. Physical-chemical tests are carried out on all batches, ensuring the quality and standardization of the services provided.
